Embassy of the Republic of Korea to the United Republic of Tanzania

Since establishing diplomatic relations in 1992, the Republic of Korea and the United Republic of Tanzania have steadily developed a close and friendly cooperative relationship, while rapidly expanding the scope of our partnership.

In 2026, we aim to further strengthen substantive cooperation between the Republic of Korea and Tanzania. The Government of the Republic of Korea has been actively implementing development cooperation projects that contribute to Tanzania’s sustainable development in various fields, including health, education, rural development, water and infrastructure. Projects such as the Tanzanite Bridge and the Muhimbili National Hospital Mloganzila have become enduring symbols of friendship and cooperation between our two nations, and well recognized by the people of Tanzania.      

Korean companies in Tanzania continue to expand, and bilateral trade between our two countries has shown steady growth. In 2022, total trade volume reached approximately USD 400 million, marking a historic high. Major national projects by the Tanzanian government, such as the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR), the Lake Victoria shipbuilding projects, and the establishment of customs and national tax systems all are important examples of the active participation of Korean companies.   

Given Tanzania’s role as an engine of growth in East Africa, the potential for mutually beneficial economic cooperation between our two countries is immense. We look forward to seeing even more Korean companies join the Tanzanian market and expand opportunities for shared prosperity.  

The Korean Embassy in Dar es Salaam will actively pursue various avenues of mutual cooperation that will improve and bring tangible benefits to the daily lives of our two peoples, enhancing people-to-people exchanges and strengthening mutual understanding and mutual support. 

The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Dar es Salaam will continue to promote the friendly relations between Korea and Tanzania.
